Walking by Faith When You Cannot See the Road

Faith would be easy if God handed us the whole map at the start. Most of the time, He hands us one step.

The Bible says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Walking by sight means I move only when I can see how everything will work out. Walking by faith means I move because God said move, even when the road ahead is still dark.

Think of Abraham. God told him to leave his country and go to a land He would show him. Notice the order: go first, and the showing comes later. Most of us want it the other way around. We want the full picture before the first step. But faith does not work that way, and it never has.

Here is what I have learned, in ministry and in my own life: God usually lights the step you are standing on, plus the next one. That is enough. The step after that gets its light when you arrive.

If you are standing in the dark today — about money, about family, about a calling you cannot shake — do not wait until you feel brave. Take the one step you can see. Pray over it. Then take it.

I wrote more about this in my book Walking By Faith, which you can find on the Products page of this site. And if this spoke to you, tell me about it in the Forum. I would love to hear where your road is leading.
